Emberfall Saga
Emberfall Saga is the kind of mobile RPG that respects that you're playing in short bursts. Battles are turn-based and you can set them to auto when you just want to grind, but the real fun is in planning party setups manually. Each of your four characters has a tiny skill tree, and the way their abilities chain together matters a lot on the tougher fights.
The story is told through quick text scenes between dungeons, nothing overlong. What I liked most is the town-rebuilding loop running underneath everything — clear areas, bring back resources, watch your little home base grow with new shops and recruits. It gave every dungeon run a point beyond loot.
There's some grind in the back third, and the gacha-style recruit system leans harder than I'd prefer, but you can finish the main story without touching it much. A generous, warm little RPG.
What we liked
- Thoughtful turn-based combat with skill chaining
- Satisfying base-building between dungeons
- Playable in short sessions or long ones
